crafting/sewing

I've had a few projects I've been working on and got a couple completed. 

The first were these adorable skirts (w/ matching flower clips) and tie onesie that I did for my friend Mallory.  She has two girls and a boy on the way.  I thought they turned out really cute!

The next was my fall wreath.  Because I have zero fall decorations and I spend way too much time on pinterest, I thought it was about time I take some ideas I've been "pinning" and make something out of it.  I had all of this stuff around, so for free I thought it turned out pretty good.  Of course, there are always things that you'd like to change about something, but for now I think it works.

Lastly, don't you hate seeing all the clutter that piles up on a changing table?  Well I sure do and I've been wanting to get this done for a while, but it wasn't until recently when I found the fabric in my bin that I remembered to do it.  I used our old flat sheet to do this project. (Do you remember what I used our old pillowcases for?)  Well, turns out old sheets come in handy.  We threw out the fitted sheet because it was getting holes in it, but the pillowcases and flat sheets were still in great shape.  Always feels good to re-purpose things, right?  I think so.

Anyway,  as I said, I've been wanting to get some "drapes/curtains" for the changing table to get his room a little less clutter-y.  I thought it turned out great.  It was super simple to draw up too, which is always nice.

Ensign Ranch

Last weekend we enjoyed some family time up at Ensign Ranch.  It's an LDS owned property in Cle Elum, WA.  We stayed in a family cabin and it turned out to be a lot of fun.  Josh always loves to be outside so he definitely enjoyed himself.  We got there Thursday evening and had dinner, smores and spent some time around the fire.

The next morning we went canoeing on the lake there.  Josh was so excited to get his life-jacket on.  (Seriously he was excited.  But this is coming from a kid who loves to have his bibs put on and wears my apron around the house on a regular basis).  Once we got in the canoe, Josh was frozen.  Only sat in my arms and didn't really move much from there.  It took him a good 45 minutes before he wanted to get up and start moving around.

He loved touching the water and belly laughed while spitting into the water.  Daddy taught him that one.

Even though it was a short visit, we enjoyed little family getaway.  The family cabins at Ensign Ranch are open year-round.  We plan on visiting the cabins again sometime this winter, that's if I'm not too huge to go. :)

sixteen weeks

Well, I've reached sixteen weeks and I'm not feeling much different, except a little larger.  I've recently started feeling little flutters and day by day they get bigger and bigger.  So, I'm excited when they become constant and also when Jake can feel them.  I think that all starts to make it a little more real for us. 

We found out that October 12th we will have our next ultrasound to find out what we are having.  I officially decided yesterday that it's a boy, but honestly who knows.  I guessed that Josh was a girl, but that was wrong. :) 

My last appointment went great and everything is looking like it's going along great.  I've just started to pop and clothes are slowly getting tighter. 

I get more and more excited about this pregnancy every day and I think Jake does too.  We are looking forward to another big change in the family.

Dewey Lake

Last weekend Jake and I went on a hike with some friends of ours the Scheidler's and the Lewis' to Dewey Lake near Mount Rainier National Park.  It was absolutely beautiful (minus the bugs, I got 29 mosquito bites).  Our friends both brought their dogs and so Josh had a great time playing at the lake with them.  It was a perfect day!

Here is my most recent baking assistant.  Kept him quite entertained.  But he got white chocolate chips out of it, so who wouldn't be entertained.

Speaking of baking... I recently signed up for a cake decorating class for the month of October.  I'm really looking forward to it and think it's something that I could definitely get in to. Wish me luck! :)

Recently...

Has it already been 2 weeks since I last updated?  Seems like we've been fairly busy over the past few weeks, but then when I look at what I've done it doesn't look like much.  Funny how that happens.  But this is what our household has been up to recently...

Jake climbed Mt. Rainier on the 13th/14th of August and I'm so proud of him.  This has been a goal for a long time and I'm glad he was able to find people to go with.  Sounded like the climb went really well and it was perfect conditions.  I'm grateful for such an ambitious husband who makes it a goal to reach his dreams.  Congrats Jake! I think that's a big accomplishment.

We have recently found that Joshua enjoys feeding the ducks near our home.  I've gone a few times with some friends and I wanted Jake to see and so we all went together last weekend.  Lots of fun for Josh.

  Josh is continually goofing off and it is so funny to watch the little things that he gets into and explores and the things that entertain him.  His favorite drawer in the house is what I like to call the "random kitchen gadget" drawer.  I recently locked it because I was sick of tripping over the potato masher, whisks, kitchenaid accessories and chip clips.  But before I locked it, he'd find the orange peeler and put it in his mouth like this.

Pajama Head

 The other day Joshua kept bringing me bibs so that I would put them on him.  We got up to 4 bibs and then I needed a picture.  And recently when it comes to pictures, he makes all sorts of faces and i love it!

 Jake pulled out the nerf gun the other night after Josh had gotten out of the bath.  This was the result of that... Yes 2 darts stuck to his bum.  Could not stop laughing.  Kids do provide for lots of entertainment.

I love seeing the creativity in Josh and all of the things he enjoys doing.  It's quite entertaining for me and I'm looking forward to adding more kids to this family so that they can all explore together.  How fun does that sound?  Take a look...
