A Day in the Life....

Well today was just one of those busy, yet seemingly uneventful days at the Jensen household. Take a peek into a day in our life:

Audree's new room (Josh's old room)
Audree's new room (Josh's old room) - Jake and I decided to switch rooms last night so that we could start letting Audree cry it out at night so that she could learn to soothe herself throughout the night and hopefully sleep better.  She would be up at least twice a night and sometimes 3, 4 or even 5 times.  So we knew that she didn't need the food, but was just getting the bottle for comfort and it was time to stop.  Since Audree's old room was the only shared wall in our place, we thought it would be best to switch rooms so that she wouldn't bother the neighbors.  So far so good.  She woke up a handful of times last night, but only cried fussed for a few minutes before going back to sleep.  She had a bottle once and overall slept from 7:30pm - 8:15am.  So I'm glad we decided to do it.  :)

Josh's new room (Audree's old room)

Josh's new room (Audree's old room) - Josh now is in Audree's old room and really has taken the transition quite well.  He slept like a rock through the night and I think is enjoying his little space.  I've liked the little change because while I'm in the kitchen he likes to be playing near me and now he has a space that's right by me, but not right under my feet.  So for playing reasons and for me to get stuff done, it's been a great move.

New Fridge
New Fridge - Last night our fridge stopped working on us.  We were noticing a weird clicking noise coming from it so I thought I should check the food in the freezer.  Sure enough everything had started to get soft.  So we moved all the stuff out of the freezer to our chest freezer out in the garage, put some ice trays in there and waited overnight to see if there would be a change.  First thing this morning, no change and a warm freezer and fridge.  So my morning was filled with getting some ice for our cooler and salvaging what I could.   Then our landlord quickly ordered a new one, and here it is.  Nice and new and functional. :)

Overdue
Overdue - Story of my life.  I always forget that DVD's from the libary are only checked out for a week, so this is typically what happens.  A couple days overdue and it's still sitting on my counter.  Guess it should get it back, but then that means that little fine.  Ugh... Maybe someday I'll learn.

Monster Trucks
Monster Trucks - Josh has a serious obsession with Monster Trucks as of late.  If I need a little time to get something done, he usually asks for this: Modern Marvels Monster Trucks on Netflix.

Study closet
Study closet - In our little space here I had to get creative when Jake needed to ramp up his study time.  I didn't want to infringe on our Master Bedroom too much, and that's just because I like our room to be free of work, school or other distractions.  So, here in the master closet he is.  This table also subs great well for a little sewing/crafting/work space for me.  It'll do for now, but we wish we had a bigger space.  Maybe soon...

At my feet
At my feet - As of late, this little girl likes to follow me around and climb up on my feet.  She sure is a cute thing isn't she? I'll take leg climbs any day from this little one.

Audree - 7 months

I really can hardly believe that Audree is now 7 months.  Everyone always says it, but it's so true.  Life moves so quickly and your kids grow up in a flash.  My little angel is growing up to be such a sweet (and mischevious) little girl. I've been amazed at her motivation to move and be busy.  Like I've told many of my friends and family, she is completely different than Josh so this is all new to me.  It's really fun to watch the differences in personality between your kids and watch their individual spirits shine.

This is the closest I could get her to smiling

Most of her pictures were like this. :)
Audree is definitely growing in size as well as personality and in her motor skills.  On our scale at home, she's approximately 17 1/2 pounds, which is right in that 50 percentile which is great.  Most recently we've finally got a handle on her eating.

She used to be up 2-3 (sometimes even 4) times a night which really was just getting exhausting.  Letting her cry it out was an issue because first we have neighbors sharing her wall and she wasn't a very good eater throughout the day so I was always worried she was hungry at night.  From the time she went to bed to getting up she could easily eat 10-12 ounces of formula, which seemed like a lot.  Well after a little tweaking to her daily schedule and going to her at night without a bottle and just soothing her, she is now a great little bottle eater during the day and is up once maybe twice a night.  So things have definitely improved there, which is great!!  She is also up to 3 solid feedings a day and is loving it.

As far as personality, she's a little spit fire.  She smiles all the time.  She just learned to click her tongue in her mouth and makes that noise a lot throughout the day.  She also buzzes her lips and says "bwah, bwah, bwah".  She is so fascinated by Josh and laughs it him any moment of the day.  The joy that they bring each other is priceless.  She is so fidgety and can never hold still when I'm holding her on my lap.

Jake and I have also discovered that she's a quiet little thing though too.  When she's focused and moving around, getting into stuff, etc. etc.  she is silent.  So her stealthy behaviors make me quite nervous for her future.  I'm going to have to keep a close eye on her.

As for motor skills, she is all over the house.  Literally.  She crawls everywhere, climbs up on to Josh's mattress, and "stands" up next to her toys (not all the way standing, but she's on her feet).

I was telling my mom just yesterday that I forgot how much babies get in to things.  Josh is at an age and has been for awhile where he doesn't really get in to things and so I don't didn't have to worry about it.  Now, Audree just finds everything.   She always likes to sneak into the dark bathroom if I forgot to close the door.  Look at the mischievous little smile. :)

She is also breaking another tooth, so that makes two total that are coming in.  She seems to be doing pretty well with it.  She sometimes seems irritated, but overall I think she's handling it pretty well.  The Hyland's teething tablets have been my good friend during her fussy times.  I've really noticed that they've helped with her.

Overall, she really is such a fun-loving, crazy, busy and happy child.  It's not very often that I find her in a bad mood (if she's been fed, changed and well rested).  I'm so lucky to have her here with me.

Diaper Change

My conversation with Josh yesterday while changing his diaper:

J: "Do you see pe-nin?"
J: "Do you see 'im? Do you see 'im?"
M: "Yep. I do see him."
J: "he he he"
Proceeding to close up his diaper
J: "Bye-Bye pe-nin! Bye-Bye pe-nin!"

Oh the joys of a learning and talking toddler!

*to clarify if you did not catch it, pe-nin means penis. I'm only recording this to remember because it was hilarious. I'm sure he will be embarrassed by it at an older age, but it will always make me laugh. Cute kid!!

Teeth! - or should I say Tooth!

Audree now officially has a tooth coming through.  It's just started to break through.  Not that you can see it well in this picture but it's there.  She has been doing pretty well with it, so that's a good thing.

I think this charming little tooth will be perfect to match her crazy character.  She's such a busy little fireball.  I can't wait to see it fully come in.

She is also completely obsessed with her solid foods.  She eats twice a day, but I bet she wishes she got more.  I swear she likes them more than her bottles some times.

Josh's Room Pulled Together

I finally was able to get everything pulled together and put up in Josh's room. What a fun room he has!  Definitely love the car theme that he's got going on and I'm sure he loves it too!  Now if only I could get started on Audree's room. :)

Entrance with his growing board

His semi truck shelf that he can put his cars on to play with.  Just like his obsession with the window sill, now he can play right there.

My ingenious attempt at hanging his laundry basket because there is no room on the floor.

The lovely little bench/storage that I got from Kathie/Dad.  I've been looking for something like exactly like that for a long time and so I'm really lucky they had it and gave it to me.  Looks perfect and Josh loves it!

4 years!

It's a little late in the posting, but on September 19th Jake and I celebrated 4 years of marriage!  I can't believe how quickly that time passed.  Even though marriage is challenging and a constant learning process, I couldn't be happier with the man I chose to spend eternity with.  Despite his rough exterior, he's loving, gentle and cares deeply about his family.  So lucky!

Here's to the rest of eternity!

We celebrated with dinner next to these beautiful flowers!! We of course ate too much of the fabulous Stuffed Jumbo Shells, "Olive Garden" breadsticks and Coconut Cream Pie, but it was SO good!  I also think that we celebrate everyday by enjoying the two beautiful kids we've been blessed with.  Love you sweetie!!

As tradition, we watch our wedding video every year.  Here is the link to it:
